Condition

The illsutration is accurate. Good overall condition despite the inevitable minor scratches and marks due to age and use. They have been pierced for electricity. The gilding is very nice despite a little tarnished and rubbed. Very unusual model with exquisite proportions. The chasing is very nice, especially on the garlands.

Catalogue Note

Le trophée de musique présent sur le fût se retrouve sur une paire d'appliques conservée au musée du Quirinal à Rome. Le dessin de notre paire est très abouti et pourrait se rapprocher des modèles de Jean-Louis Prieur, avec notamment l'enroulement particulier sur les bras de lumière, caractéristique d'un style Louis XVI commençant à se démarquer d'une certaine rigueur "à l'antique".
