Description
- 18 karat gold, platinum, diamond, ruby, compact
The rectangular engraved gold case set at the top with round rubies and three leaf clovers of round diamonds, the thumbpiece set with a cabochon ruby and baguette and single-cut diamonds, the total diamond weight approximately 3.70 carats, the interior fitted with a mirror and compartment, gross weight approximately 144 dwts., measuring approximately 3 1/8 by 2¼ by ½ inches, signed Cartier, London, English assay marks. With fitted silk case and signed suede pouch.
Condition
In very good condition, presenting an attractive patina and bearing a nice heft. The 98 round, single-cut and baguette diamonds are approximately F-G color, VS clarity. The 1 cabochon ruby and 16 round-cut richly saturated medium deep red rubies are of a fine clarity, particularly for a decorative object such as a compact. Signed on the lower lid below the thumbpiece. The black watered silk slip case with white suede lining in very good condition; unsigned and probably not original to the piece.
