The purse composed of gold mesh, the top of modified lozenge-shape set with a floral motif of round demantoid garnets and old European-cut diamonds, gross weight approximately 40 dwts., the gold link handle with a ring, size 8½; the circular compact set at the top with carved jasper and green hardstone segments, accented by rose-cut diamonds, the interior fitted with a mirror, gross weight approximately 69 dwts., the gold link handles with a ring, size 7.
Condition
PURSE: Diamonds of decorative quality, demantoid garnets are bright and lively. Has been recently cleaned, therefore lacking the patina of an old piece. COMPACT: Minute chipping to the hardstone top. Diamonds are of decorative quality. Some discoloration to the gold in places on the exterior and interior; original patina remains. Minor scratching to the surface of the metal. Both pieces in good condition.
