Catalogue Note

An ormolu-mounted bleu turquin marble side table of very similar design was delivered by Pierre Gouthière for the hôtel of the duchesse Mazarin in 1781, see Hans Ottomeyer and Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Vol. II, Munich, 1986, pp. 582-583. A very similar buffet also appears in an 1785 aquarelle by Pierre Adrien Paris of Marie Antoinette's Pavillon des Fêtes at Versailles.
