Description

  • Porcelain, African Elephant Ivory, Hawksbill Sea Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), Silver-gilt
  • length of longest 5 3/4 in.
  • 14.5cm
one of German porcelain with engraved gold collar, now fitted with a lighter; one carved ivory, probably French; the last tortoiseshell piqué with gold stars, French, circa 1780, marks not clear.  Together with an ivory-handled magnifying glass carved with a stag's head; 4 pieces.

Condition

the first two good condition, the third lacking some inlaid stars from ends and wear to gold collar; slight staining to magnifying glass handle
