each panel painted on paper with birds perched upon flowering branches, reserves in sea green, mounted on board, overall surmounted by carved gilt-laurels. Approximately twenty panels, together with a group of seven rolls of decorative netting.

Condition

Together with a group of seven rolls of decorative netting. The present panels are in fair condition, each wall paper panel is backed onto a think piece of sheet-rock or wall board which is them mounted on a frame which is covered in fabric to the back. THere are approximately 12 full length panels which are numbered to the back; there are a large group of panels which have been cut down to fit around doors and windows; each panel was affixed with gilded resin laurel leaves which went up the sides of each panel. Subsequently, each panel has nail holes along the sides; there is some sun-fading to a few panels, though overall there are not very many restorations to the paper. The panels would benefit from sympathetic conservation to the sides. The quality of the painting is very good and the proportions are large. There are a number of later panels which are painted is very good and the proportions are large. There are a number of later panels which are painted to imitate the main wallpaper panels in order to fit in the room in which it was placed in the Venice palazzo.
