Catalogue Note
With their flowering lily branches and snake-form handles, these candelabra were among the more popular models during the last quarter of the eighteenth century and were executing in porcelain, a variety of stones, patinated and gilt bronze. For an ormolu and patinated variant of this model in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, see Hans Ottomeyer and Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Vol. I, Munich, 1986, p. 259, fig. 4.7.12.
