shaped oval with applied gadrooned rim, the borders engraved with contemporary arms and supporters under an earl's coronet

Provenance

The arms are those of Tufton impaling Sackville for Sackville, 8th Earl of Thanet (1733-86) and his wife Mary, sister of John Frederick, 3rd Duke of Dorset, whom he married in 1767.

Condition

heavy scratching to centers and overall wear, especially to engraved arms, one with ding belwo border near arms but not through, otherwise good condition, clear marks
