Catalogue Note

In the customary manner at Westtown School, Beulah worked the center section of her darning sampler in chain stitch to resemble knitting. Beulah's sister Rachel entered Westtown in December 1818 at the age of seventeen and left in July 1820. Her white-on-white darning sampler, dated 1819, is also in this collection.

Together with Rachel Passmore's White Darning Sampler, (height 9 3/4  in. by width 11 in.), signed Rachel Passmore West Town, 1819. 2 pieces.
