Brilliantly colored and finely worked with silk stitches and chenille on silk. The original eglomise mat inscribed in gilt lettering.

Catalogue Note

The composition is typical of memorials designed by Samuel Folwell, but the painting is by another hand. A very similar piece, but dedicated to the embroiderer's brother, was worked by Eliza Gravenstine and dated 1807.
