Catalogue Note
An almost identical sampler was worked by Anna Pierce of Oxford in 1814 (see ANTIQUES, June 1950, p. 438). Mary Moulten (1804-1876) was the daughter of James Moulten (1771- 1816) and Phebe Bowman (1775-1840) of Oxford. She married Alpheus Prince (1799-1888) on March 25, 1824, and they had three children.
