- A mahogany longcase regulator, London, circa 1845
- Mahogany, brass, steel
- 206.5cm. 6ft. 9¼in. high
11½-inch silvered dial with annular minutes enclosing subsidiary hours dial and seconds dial with astronomers' marks, signed Charles C Webb, Royal Exchange, London, the six-pillar movement with stepped plates, high count train with six-spoke wheels and maintaining power, deadbeat escapement with jewelled pallets, end plates through the train, oak dust cover, mercury pendulum with glass jar, beat adjustment on the crutch, the case with blind swan neck cresting above canted hood corners, glazed trunk door flanked by quarter pilasters, panelled plinth, the whole decorated with gadrooned mouldings, the interior with a silvered beat plaque
Condition
Dial in good condition, silvering a little dirty. Movement complete and running at time of cataloguing but needs a clean. Case lacking small piece of moulding from top of cresting, old cracks to plinth panel, other old minor losses, scuffs and marks throughout but generally good. With pendulum (mercury), brass-cased weight, winder and case key.
