Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a certificate from the Breguet archives which stated that this watch was sold on the 19 March 1845 to Monsieur Paschkoff for 3,500 francs.

In 1810, Breguet introduced his final form of repeating watch of which No. 4938 is one. These were called 'montres à répétition sur les principes des chronomètres'. These represent Breguet's highest grade of repeating watches. In 'Watches', Clutton & Daniels indicate that No. 4938 is the only known example with an enamel dial and secret signature, all others have silver engine-turned dials.
