Accompanied by a certificate from the Breguet archives which states that the watch was sold on 31 December 1808 to Monsieur Boyer for 1,788 francs.
Presented to George Daniels by Edward Hornby a distinguished collector. The Edward Hornby collection was sold in these rooms, December 1st, 1978.
The duplex escapement is rarely found in Breguet watches as it worked better in thick watches and had disadvantages which made Breguet decide to abandon it and concentrate on other types of escapements. The duplex was invented in France but became more favoured in England.
