Description

  • An ormolu mounted grande sonnerie travelling clock with alarm, No.2767, Paris, circa 1815
  • Burr walnut, enamel, ormolu, brass, steel
  • 20cm. 7¾in. high
3¼-inch enamel dial, the bezel concealing the winding square and levers for grande/petite sonnerie and sonnerie/silent, the movement with single massive tandem spring barrel, large platform with Robin double lift escapement, three arm compensation balance with parachute suspension, repeat grande sonnerie striking on two bells, the separate alarm train acting on the larger bell, the cadrature mounted on the backplate, signed to the base Breguet et Fils, No.2767, the rectangular case with carrying handle and glazed suspension aperture, sliding back panel and finely chased gilt mounts, veneered with well figured burr wood

Condition

Dial in very good condition with one very minor scratch at 7. Movement is complete and running at time of cataloguing but is much in need of a clean and service, Case in good original condition with some very minor old cracks to the veneers, good original gilding to the mounts. No winder.
