Catalogue Note

André Hory was working in Paris around 1700 to 1750. He is recorded as making a watch with a six-hour dial which was in the Gélis collection.

In Old Clocks and Watches and Their Makers by Britten a curious Tompion watch is illustrated with a six-hour dial. It is suggested that this may have been for use in Italy where in some parts the day was divided into four periods of six-hours each.
