Condition
The movement appears complete but not in going order, balance possibly replaced. Dial slightly scuffed at III but overall in good condition. Casewith scuffs throughout, requires cleaning.

Catalogue Note
Peter Litherland (1756 - 1804) was born in Warrington, and in 1791 took out his first patent for the rack lever escapement. The escapement was made in great numbers in Lancashire and probably paved the way for the introduction of Massey's detached lever escapement in 1815.
