Catalogue Note
Both first editions. Rusconi's treatise is a shortened version of Vitruvius's ten books on architecture. It was originally prepared in the 1550s but abandoned when Daniele Barbaro's edition was published to great acclaim in 1556. After the death of both the original publisher and Rusconi, Giolito's heirs decided to utilise the elegant woodblocks carved by Rusconi himself, accompanied by an abbreviated Italian text which was based on Rusconi's original.
