Catalogue Note
The Château de Richelieu, in Poitou, was constructed between 1621 and 1642 on the orders of Cardinal Richelieu. Almost nothing of it remains today, although the neighbouring planned "new town" of Richelieu, constructed simultaneously, still exists.
At the end of the volume are six manuscript leaves of "Les choses remarquables de Richelieu", signed by Lefort and dated 1665 at Richelieu, plausibly containing details about the internal decoration of the building that are not recorded elsewhere.
