with a rectangular plate within mirrored borders with a trelliswork cartouche at each angle carved with a flower and foliage within giltwood borders of scrolls and foliage; formerly with a cresting, the reverse with an ink inscribed label No 18 carved Louis LXIV...fronton bois doré, together with a carved giltwood frame, Régence, circa 1715, of oval form with stylised scallopshell cresting above a later plate within a moulded border carved with scrolls and husks on a trelliswork ground; rebacked; (unillustrated)

The gilding is dirty and worn as is visible from photo. Some losses to the gilding and carved sections which have been touched up with gilt paint in places. There are construction cracks at the joints commensurate with age and usage and gaps between the panes of the mirrored borders. Oval frame in overall good original condition. Some very minor losses to gilding as visible from the photo but has attractive craquelure. There are a couple of small holes in the border where it was previously attached to a wall. Some very minor scattered cracks.
