A pair of George II carved walnut wing armchairs circa 1730

with a loose cushion seat on cabriole legs carved with a stylised scallopshell and husk on claw and ball feet the rear legs terminating in pad feet, minor differences to carvings, restorations, one bearing an ivorine label for  M. HARRIS & SONS/ 44/52 NEW OXFORD ST./ LONDON WC1

Frames unexamined. Later sprung seats. The rails are wormed throughout on both chairs. Chair 1: Several spandrels replaced. One back leg heavily wormed. One one back foot cracked and with losses. Feet originally fitted with castors.Joints loose- characteristic minor worm damage throughout . Chair 2: Several spandrels replaced including those at the front which are a different colour from the rest. One back leg probably replaced. The other broken and heavily wormed. Joints loose.
