Each foliate-carved serpentine cresting rail above a foliate-carved pierced vase-form splat flanked by curved stiles and a pair of serpentine foliate-carved armrests on S-scrolled supports above an overupholstered seat with blind-fret-carved apron raised on square blind-fret-carved legs.
Condition
Overall fair restored condition; please note each upholstered in a different material; the first chair with old repaired breaks to cresting rail at joins with stiles and splats; the right stile with an old repaired break at join with right armrest and now with a metal support; seat rails with old worm damage and with two metal L brackets to the front corners at join with front legs for support; losses and wear to blind fret carving to front legs especially around feet; the other chair with old repaired breaks to cresting rail at joins with stile and splat; left stile with old repaired break at join with left armrest; extensive old worm damage to seat rails; legs with some nicks, losses, and wear to blind fret carving especially around feet; nicely carved; good color.
