Condition
Gross-point stitch overall. Good overall condition. Embroidery intact with a few minor cat scratches. Small surface spots, should enhance with cleaning. Cloth tape sewn to reverse of all four sides. Very good overall condition.

'PH' denotes 'Pontremoli Haines' and indicates that this carpet was woven in the needlework workshops established in Paddington, London by J. M. Pontremoli, after a design by William S. Haines. The 'PH' may be an early marking that gave way to the 'JMP' that is found on most Pontremoli carpets.
