Catalogue Note

Artist's inscription:
I once saw a large work by old man Zungu (Huang Ding), with peaks and ridges rising up, brush and ink both deep and turbid, and my work here is only somewhat like his, only my paper is more rough, and my brush more stagnant, I cannot achieve his mysteriousness. Putting this up for reflection, jiwei year (1919), summer, seventh month, Yunxi Lanyu Feng Chaoran inscribed this at Dige.
