Feng Chaoran: Xiaodie, a man who has attained the Way has requested a painting from me many times, but I have been too lazy to comply. This evening after some discussion I think I have it, and this fan is to commemorate it, and though unusual, it is hardly worth a laugh. Wuzi year (1948), summer of the fourth month, Jinling Feng Chaoran.
