Artist's inscription:
After snow, the garden remains icy and cold. I bear the chill only to witness the plum blossom. Though smartly and elegantly dressed, the pampered and naive lady is still sorrowful. Delicately she moves her slender feet and strikes a graceful posture, as if remembering a past meeting in a paradise of her dreams. Playfully recorded to the tune of Pusameng. In autumn in the ninth month of the yichou year (1865), after the style of Liuru jushi (Tang Yin, 1470-1523), presented to Master Yunqu for his elegant instruction. Ziliang Baodong of Shanyin.
