Catalogue Note

Artist's inscription:
Frost yellows the jade parasol tree where the white crane rests, and the bird's calls strike the city walls over and again. As a guest I enter under a clear moon, and the frigid wind beats against the houses. At the southern ford laurel trees line the water where a boat paddles by the watchtower, resembling so many drums returning along the Qin River. I have lived half a century yet I am full of dissatisfactions, and tomorrow I will watch the clouds as I return to my meandering. Disciple Song Cao wrote this for Liexian, his brother in the Way.
