Artists' inscriptions:
Cheng Tinglu: The Garden of Contentment. Written for the respected elder Boyuan, in the hopes that he will inspect and correct its errors. In the year of dingsi (1857), summer, in the first ten days of the fourth month, brotherly junior of Jiading, Cheng Tinglu.
Feng Lechu: A portrait drawn for Mr. Boyuan by Feng Lechu, brotherly junior mountain man of Yuping, in Guyue.
