Description

  • lacquer
each leaf pierced at the top with geometric fretwork inset with dragon roundels, all above a painted rectangular panel enclosing birds amongst flowering branches issuing from rockwork, and encircled by scrolling foliate bands

Condition

In good general condition, with several cracks to the lacquer, primarily to the edges and openwork. The feet with chips and associated losses to lacquer exposing wood; other smaller chps to edges. Other wear and rubbing to the gilding and pigments. Possibly originally intended to hold glass panes within the upper openwork registers.
