  • gilt bronze cloisonne enamel
of circular form rising to a wide everted hexalobed rim, supported on three gilt-bronze elephant mask legs, the exterior brightly decorated with undulating lotus scrolls against a turquoise ground, the torim encircled by pairs of dragons confronting stylised shou characters

Condition

This censer is in good condition, but is missing its cover. There is some cracking and bubbles to the enamel to the sides and to both sides of the everted rim. There is some nicks to the bronze rim and a loss to most of the gilding. There is rubbing and loss of gilding to the elephant head feet and the exterior base has been cleaned.
