the bombé body rising from a short foot to a waisted neck with lipped rim, flanked by a pair of animal mask handles, covered overall in a purplish-red glaze heavily streaked with milky-lavender, the interior with a crackled sea-green glaze, incised on one side with an inscription reading Jiaqing dingmao qiu bayue zhi ji Nanhai Mai Baichang jingchou (Respectfully presented as a votive offering by Mai Baichang from Nanhai on the auspicious [day] in the eighth month of the dingmao year of Jiaqing’s reign, corresponding to 1807), wood stand
Condition
This censer is in good condition, but does have numerous burst bubbles to the glaze to the rim. There is several cracks adn pulls to the glaze to the interior base, as well as crazing to most of the interior. There is also crazing to the glaze of the exterior base and some kiln adhesions.
