Description

of circular form, the cover painted with boys engaged in various literati pursuits including calligraphy, chess, painting appreciation and playing the qin, all encircled by further boys at play, the box similarly decorated, divided into seven shaped compartments to the interior

Condition

The box has two repaired 13cm., wide crescent-shaped breaks at the rim, one with an associated 3cm., chip to the inner flange, a repaired break across the whole body, all with associated loss and further smaller areas of damage, the cover has been broken in a V-shape from side to side, one side with an associated 4cm., wide rim chip, the other with a 5cm., wide rim chip
