Provenance

Purchased in Hong Kong in the early 1980s.
A French Private Collection.
Purchased by the present owner in London in 2010.

Condition

The carving is in good condition with the exception of old loss to the head and neck, hands, lower section of robes, legs and feet, with further small areas of loss to the extremities and minor nibbles along the lines of the drapery. The patination would suggest burial. There are no signs of restoration under UV light.
