Description
- bronze
of domed form with everted rolled rim, surmounted by a ferocious double-headed dragon loop handle, cast in low relief around the exterior with ferocious scaly dragon and inscribed Fengtiao yushun. Guotai minan (Seasonable weather. A prosperous and peaceful kingdom) and Bianen xinshi He Dunyi Tang jingfeng. Guangxu shiqi nian mengxia jidan (Respectfully presented by the faithful followers from the Hall of Honesty and Righteousness of the He family from Bianen on an auspicious day on the fourth month in the 17th year of Guangxu, corresponding to 1891)
Condition
This rare and large bell is in fair condition with the exception of two casting flaws (6cm and 4cm., long with associated small holes) to the side of the body, and a 19cm., long hairline rim crack.
