Description

each of semi-circular section, decorated on the curved side with a ruyi-border at the mouth above lotus blossoms borne on foliate scrolls incorporating a bat suspending a wan symbol,  the waisted neck flanked by foliate scroll handles, with an integral simulated gold-wire inlaid wood stand, the flat side pierced with four holes and a notch for hanging, the interior covered with turquoise enamel, four-character gilt seal mark in a line (2)

Condition

One handle on one vase has broken off, with associated chip and signs of old repair. There is also a small restored frit to the mouth and a chip to one corner. The other vase has fritting around the mouth rim, some of the frit have been touched up. Both vases have loss to the ruby enamel on the notch and the corners of the mouth rim, and minor losses to the polychrome enamel, as well as wear to the brown enamel on the feet of both simulated wood stands.
