naturalistically modeled as a large hollow peach, with a branch forming the handle extending on either side bearing leaves, one leaf forming the back foot, the stems continuing on the underside bearing two small peaches forming the front feet; together with a small gilt-splashed bronze vase, 17th / 18th century, carved wood stand and cover (4)

Provenance

Collection of Thomas Barlow Walker (1840-1928).
The Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota (from 1924 to circa 1940).
Auctioned at Gimbel's, New York in the 1940s, purchased by the family of the present owner.

Condition

Censer - one leaf is loose and the tip is chipped. There is some white residue in the crevices. The stem and the surface on the underside has some irregularities and there are some minor spots of corrosion on the interior. Vase - there is a small dent to the shoulder, otherwise, it is in good overall condition.
