Description

  • bronze with stained beechwood stand and cover
of rounded triangular section, cast to resemble an archaic ritual wine vessel, supported on three gently-curved legs, each corner of the body decorated  with a taotie mask with raised eyes, the flared neck encircled with a  band of ruyi heads reserved against a leiwen ground, the edges of the mouth set with two opposing upright post with mushroom-head finials, wood stand and cover (3)

Condition

Most of the gilding has worn off, and there are some minor nicks and a small repair to the mouth rim. There is a depression in the rim of one of the finials and holes in the bottoms of the feet.
