Description

both well-cast standing atop integral rectangular bases made to resemble stands with scrolled feet and cusped aprons, the bearded male figure with stern expression dressed as an official wearing an elaborate headdress secured by a tasseled cord tied at chest level,  holding a hu,  the borders of his robes and sleeves chased with floral and dragon borders;  the female figure with benevolent expression, her hair gathered into two soft double loops behind her ears, wearing a ruyi-cloud collar over her voluminous layered robes, holding a book, her garments detailed with chased scrolling floral designs (2)

Condition

The male figure has an approximately 1/4 in. (0.6 cm) casting break with an associated 1 in. (2.5 cm) crack to the waist and a small square hole to the back of the base. The female figure has a shallow casting line5 3/4 in. (14.6 cm) running horizontally across the front of her gown extending to the left sleeve and the base is slightly uneven. Both have minor dents along the edges.There is characteristic wear to the gilding and traces of pigment.
