Catalogue Note
There appears to be no other published example of a jar of this type with perforations over the entire form. The Provincial Museum of Zhejiang in Hangzhou has a related form with four rows of holes which is described as a type of censer. For an illustration and further discussion on this interesting form see Céladon - Grès des Musées de la Province de Zhejiang, Chine, Paris, 2005, p. 91, no. 27.
