the plain hardwood scepter inlaid with three white jade plaques, the largest carved with a bat in flight above a fruiting peach branch within a ruyi-shaped section, the middle carved with a peach cluster and a bat and the third carved with two peaches issuing from a leafy branch within a quatrelobed panel
Provenance
Collection of Dr. Richard and Mrs. Mary Eckhardt acquired in Japan between 1947-1952 while Dr. Eckhardt was serving as a surgeon in the United States Army and thence by descent.
Condition
There are some minor nicks along the edges, otherwise all three jade sections of the ruyi are in good condition.
