TWO JADEITE BRUSHWASHERS LATE QING DYNASTY

comprising a lotus-leaf shaped brushwasher carved in high relief on the exterior with three lotus flowers, incised on the interior and base to simulate veins and stems; a mottled celadon jadeite washer of barbed quadrilobed form, supported on four shallow brackets, with a carved chilong clambering around one side and a carved ruyi head on another; together with a white jade infurled lotus leaf containing a goldfish, all with wood stands (6)

The washer on the top of the catalogue image has a few minute nicks and small cracks around the rim, as well as some fissures in the stone. Patches of dark brown, gray and apple-green inclusions, the stone of overall grayish celadon tone. The washer on the bottom of the catalogue image has feet that feel rough to the touch, but otherwise in good overall condition. The washer in the center of the catalogue image has a small crack in the stone running from the head of the fish, over the rim to the underside, some nibbling along the leaves issuing from the stem and the rim. Two tiny patches of russet.
