of tapering octagonal form supported on a conforming low waisted foot, flanked by an angular spout and a 'C'-scroll handle both with dragon-head terminals, the domed cover surmounted by an octagonal knop, the stone of very pale celadon with russet enhancement, cloth stand (3)
Provenance
Collection of James and Phyllis Rosati, acquired between 1947 -1949 when Mr. Rosati was stationed in post-war Japan.
Condition
The teapot appears to be in good overall condition. The cover is slightly loose, and there are a few minute nicks to the rim as well as to the interior of the cover. There is a also a minute nick to the inner rim of the foot. The russet color is added.

The shape of this teapot is very rare, and no other examples of this type appear to have been published. See the carved white jade teapot of similar form but of slightly smaller size, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 3rd December 2008, lot 2622.
