the 'U'-shaped body supported on three triangular blade feet with a pronounced splay, cast with two taotie masks composed of confronted taotie masks with raised eyes, curling horns and clawed feet on a leiwen ground, all divided by notched flanges and below upright blades below the flared rim, a guttered spout flanked by two posts set with conical 'fire-whorl' medallions, one side set with a loop handle issuing from a bovine mask enclosing two pictograms

Condition

Under optical, ultraviolet (UV) light and x ray examination two-thirds of one leg broken off and reattached. Typical chips to the rim edge and body. The wine vessel is less blue in color compared to the catalogue illustration.
