Condition

Overall the condition of the amber is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface. There are a few scratches to the tortoise's back. The head and the feet were carved separately.

A comparable amber model of a tortoise believed to have been made in Danzig in the early 17th century was sold at Christie's, London, 4th November 2010, lot 41 for £30,000.
