Condition

Overall the condition of the marble is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few small naturally occurring inclusions, including to the face and neck. There is minor veining consistent with the material, largely to the proper left leg. There are possibly a few small chips to the hair on the inside near the leg.

Catalogue Note

Henri Weigele, born in Schierbach, studied sculpture in Paris under Jules Franchesi. In 1893 he won an honourable mention at the Salon. Weigele is best known for his decorative marbles of female subjects.
