Condition
Overall the condition of the marble is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few small naturally occurring inclusions. There is veining consistent with the material, including at the neck and at the proper right side of the chin. There is a slightly open vein to the proper right shoulder at the back.

The facial features of the present bust resemble those of the young Sir John Wodehouse in Pompeo Batoni's 1764 oil on canvas at the Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin College (inv. no. AMAM 1970.60).
