Condition
Overall the condition of the ivory is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is wear to some of the details due to rubbing (e.g. the faces). There is wear to the frame throughout and the joints are slightly open. There is some worming to the wood and a few losses to the edges. The central wood panel to the reverse may be later.

Catalogue Note
The movement achieved by the loose modelling of the present relief is reminiscent of Van Opstal's relief sculpture as is the exclusion of a background or a clear frame.
