Condition
Overall the condition of the bronze is good. There is some minor wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There are remnants of a black lacquer patina. There are a few minor nicks to the edges of the drapery and the nose.

Catalogue Note
The stippled engraving on the drapery and facial type are reminiscent of the bronzes of Pietro and Ferdinando Tacca. See for example the soldier from the Martyrdom of St Stephen in Santo Stefano al Pontein Florence illustrated by Radcliffe (op.cit.).
