Condition

Overall the condition of the pyx is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are losses to the enamelling, a number of which have been restored with paint (in particular a number of the petals of the plants/ leaves). There is craquelure to some of the enamel. There are areas of wear to the gilding, in particular to the crucifix. Four copper pins are visible to the underside, with small fissures to some of the joints. There is greening to the interior. A joint is visible to the back of the main frieze and the pin for the lid is lost.
