Condition

Overall the condition of the wood is good. There is wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is stable craquelure and rubbing to the gilding throughout. There are losses to the painted surface, particularly to the candlestick and around the base. In areas such as the collar and the face the paint was refreshed. There is some minor worming to the candlestick consistent with material. There is some fire damage to the back foot and the back of the head. Both wings were lost, sockets remain to the reverse. The edges of the base were carved separately and attached in sections. The pricket has lost its tip and is slightly bent.
